〈긴긴밤〉, TIFF 월드 프리미어에 이어 BIFF 경쟁부문 진출

긴긴밤(Long Long Night)〉의 여정이 토론토에 이어 부산으로 이어집니다.
꾸욱꾸욱스튜디오와 스튜디오이온이 공동제작한 장편 풀 3D 애니메이션 〈긴긴밤〉이 제31회 부산국제영화제(BIFF) 경쟁부문에 공식 초청됐습니다.
올해 BIFF 경쟁부문에는 아시아 각국을 대표하는 작품 14편이 선정됐으며, 영화제는 이들을 “동시대 아시아영화를 대표하는 작품들”이라고 소개했습니다. 〈긴긴밤〉도 그중 한 작품으로 이름을 올렸습니다.
무엇보다 작품을 먼저 만난 영화제 관계자들의 반응이 인상적입니다.
BIFF 공식 프로그램 노트는 〈긴긴밤〉을 “명치가 시큰하고 저릿해질 정도로 탄탄한 감성적 축조와 놀라운 기술적 완성도를 보여주는 빼어난 애니메이션” 이라고 평가하며,
“오래도록 깊이 느끼고 흐느껴 울 것이다” 라고 소개했습니다.
오늘 공개된 관련 보도에서도 BIFF 집행위원장이 작품을 보고 “펑펑 울었다”는 반응이 전해졌습니다.

지난 2월 베를린 EFM에서 글로벌 시장에 작품을 소개하기 시작한 데 이어, 9월에는 TIFF Centrepiece에서 월드 프리미어로 세계 관객을 만나고, 10월에는 BIFF 경쟁부문에서 아시아의 주요 작품들과 함께합니다.

The journey of Long Long Night continues — from Toronto to Busan.
The full-3D animated feature Long Long Night, co-produced by Googgoog Studio and Studio EON, has been officially selected for the Competition section of the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
Only 14 films from across Asia have been selected for this year’s Competition, a lineup BIFF describes as representing contemporary Asian cinema.
Even more meaningful has been the emotional response from those who have already experienced the film.
In its official programme note, BIFF praises Long Long Night for its “remarkable technical achievement” and deeply constructed emotional storytelling, concluding that audiences may be left to “feel deeply and weep for a long time.”
Korean media coverage of today’s BIFF announcement also highlighted the festival executive director’s deeply emotional response to the film — describing how it moved him to tears.
Berlin EFM → TIFF World Premiere → BIFF Competition
From its international sales launch at the Berlin EFM, to its upcoming World Premiere in the TIFF Centrepiece programme, and now to BIFF Competition, the journey of Long Long Night continues to expand.
Directed by Kyu-bock Youm and creatively led by Googgoog Studio, the film has been a meaningful journey for Studio EON to share as a co-production partner.
